About DE23 Active
DE23 Active (an Active Through Football project) is a five-year programme that aims to help the community of Normanton and Arboretum get active!
Our Story
DE23 Active started life as an 'Active Through Football' project proposal in late 2020. Active Through Football is an exciting programme from Sport England, funded by The National Lottery and delivered by the Football Foundation - you can find out more on the Football Foundation website.
The idea behind Active Through Football projects is that they focus on working with communities that face some of the greatest inequalities to being physically active. Using a 'Place-based approach', they bring key local stakeholders together as a consortium to create and deliver a plan for their local area or 'Place', with the plans being developed in partnership with the local community.
Through the continued hard work and dedication of DE23 Active's consortium member organisations and the local community, Derby was finally awarded a grant of £525,000 to run the project in April 2022!

DE23 Active provides funding for local groups in the community of Normanton and Arboretum to run fitness sessions, with activities like football, chair-based exercise classes, chill and chat sessions and much more!
Alongside physical activity, DE23 Active supports the community with training opportunities, a chance to get qualifications and access to practical support through guest speakers and workshops.
